The Missouri Department of Transportation will now be able to replace 40 bridges in northern Missouri after an announcement that Missouri has received a $20.7 million dollar federal grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Competitive Highway Bridge Program.
This grant will provide aid to rural roads and bridge relief north of highway I-70. Only 25 states were eligible to apply for the $225 million in funding from the Competitive Highway Bridge Program - those with a population density of 100 or less per square mile.
The Missouri Department of Transportation intends to pursue a design-build contract to carry out work on the bridge's reconstruction.
